Industry news · October 6, 2026. FABTECH published a new organizer update on October 1 ahead of its 2026 event. The exhibition is scheduled for October 21–23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Finishing is one of the event’s sectors, alongside metal forming, fabrication and welding.
What the organizer has confirmed
The October 1 announcement describes an upcoming gathering with equipment demonstrations and discussions of manufacturing technology. The official event website confirms the dates and venue; its finishing section explains the event’s relevance to surface treatment and coating operations.
These are plans for a future event, not results from a completed exhibition. This report does not announce Dongru participation or claim that any particular inspection instrument will be exhibited.
Dongru editorial analysis: make a finishing demo useful for quality control
For a coating quality team, the useful question is how a process or instrument performs on its own parts. The following checklist is Dongru’s editorial interpretation, rather than a statement from FABTECH or a claim about a named exhibitor.
- Bring the substrate into the conversation. Ask whether the measurement method fits the coating and base material. Nonmagnetic coatings on suitable magnetic steel and nonconductive coatings on aluminum require different measurement principles.
- Ask for a representative sample. A flat reference plate does not establish performance on a curved, rough or small production part. Discuss probe contact, edges and the expected thickness range.
- Separate demonstration readings from acceptance. Ask how the instrument is verified, where readings are taken and which project document defines sampling and thickness limits.
- Check the inspection record. Can the workflow retain part and zone IDs, individual readings, gauge and probe IDs, verification evidence and the acceptance document? A displayed average alone does not explain the inspection decision.
Prepare before comparing equipment
Write down the substrate, coating stack, cured-film range, part geometry and applicable specification before requesting a demo. This makes it easier to compare relevant capabilities without treating a trade-show reading as proof of suitability for every job.
Our guides to powder coating on steel and aluminum, inspection records and coating thickness standards explain the measurement questions behind this checklist.
